Why partner with Zendbox
for your sustainable fulfilment?

We believe that it is everyone's responsibility to protect the planet. Every step counts – from our eco-friendly packaging and carbon offsetting initiatives, to minimising waste and using a network of green couriers. We are doing our bit and helping eCommerce businesses do the same.

All packaging is recycled and recyclable

When we pack your orders, we ensure that every component we use comes from recycled materials and can also be recycled by the customer after delivery. Not only are all of our boxes FSC certified, but we also use paper void fill and environmentally-friendly, gummed paper tape to securely pack your products. Great for the environment, great for your business!

For every new customer we onboard, we plant 50 trees!

Planting new trees is a simple and effective way to reduce and offset the negative impact of carbon emissions. That’s why we plant 50 trees on behalf of every partner that joins Zendbox. Our goal is to plant 50,000 trees by 2025, so that we can make a positive change to our environment and set an example as a leading sustainable eCommerce fulfilment provider.

Zero-waste policy

At Zendbox, we are proud that we recycle waste wherever possible. This includes any paper and plastic waste we create in both our warehouses and offices, as well as any unusable packaging. Even our returns process is optimised to ensure minimal waste from damaged or faulty products, supporting our partners' efforts to operate more sustainably.

Reduction in paper use

We prioritise the use of digital technology to reduce the amount of paper we use daily. By moving towards a paper-free workplace, we have reduced the amount of documents we print monthly by 250 pieces, saving around 3,000 pieces of single-use paper annually. We endeavour to increase this amount, working hard to deliver a sustainable 3PL solution.

Powered by renewable energy

We at Zendbox share the goal of you and your customers to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels like gas and oil. That's why we already source energy from renewable suppliers to power our fulfilment centres and offices. We are also working towards installing solar panels on site as part of our journey to developing a self-sufficient operation that sets Zendbox apart.

Collaboration with sustainable carriers

Zendbox is proud of the longstanding partnerships that it maintains with the biggest and best carriers worldwide. We continue to collaborate with green couriers to ensure the orders we fulfil are shipped on an excellent service with as little carbon output as possible. Deliver unforgettable unboxing experiences that are planet-friendly. Result!

Frequently asked questions

What is sustainable fulfilment?

Sustainable fulfilment is the process of delivering eCommerce orders to customers in the most sustainable way possible for little to no impact on the environment. Sustainable fulfilment can involve:

  • Minimising or eliminating the use of single-use plastics
  • Drawing energy from renewable sources (e.g. solar panels, wind turbines)
  • Using recycled/recyclable packaging (e.g. cardboard boxes, paper tape, paper void fill etc.)
  • Working with carriers that operate low, ultra-low or zero emission vehicles
  • Maintaining fulfilment centres close to customers for shorter shipping distances
  • Offsetting carbon emissions by planting trees or investing in carbon capture technology
Is sustainable fulfilment more expensive?

On the contrary, sustainable fulfilment can be more cost-effective for your eCommerce business compared to traditional fulfilment. This, of course, depends on the 3PL provider you choose to partner with. At Zendbox, the pricing for our service is reflective of the solutions we leverage to minimise waste and carbon emissions.

For instance, we use recycled and recyclable packaging materials to fulfil orders, and our warehouse operatives are specially trained to pack items in a way that ensures minimum waste with maximum security and protection for each order. Furthermore, we utilise automated technology across our operations to ensure an accurate and efficient fulfilment process, which ultimately results in lower labour and storage costs, as products are moved out of our fulfilment centre quickly.

Through our global partnership network of world-class couriers, we also provide eco-friendly shipping at the best possible rate, which is then passed on to you and your customers as a more affordable alternative to other shipping services.

Do you use eco-friendly carriers?

Many of the world-class couriers we’ve partnered with use ultra-low or zero emission vehicles to ship orders. By outsourcing your eCommerce fulfilment to a trusted 3PL like Zendbox, you can be confident that we work with carriers that also employ eco-friendly shipping methods, which include shipping multiple orders together and filling delivery vehicles to minimise the number of deliveries for a smaller carbon footprint.

How can I make my eCommerce business more sustainable?

There are a number of steps you can take to make your eCommerce business more sustainable, starting with small initiatives such as switching to a paperless working model, using recycled materials in your products wherever possible, and avoiding single-use plastics. Outsourcing your order fulfilment to a trusted 3PL like Zendbox can also improve the sustainable credentials of your eCommerce business, whilst enabling you to take advantage of a more cost-effective means of delivering products to your customers.

At Zendbox, we use recycled and recyclable packaging solutions to minimise the impact of the fulfilment process on the environment. Furthermore, we work with several world-class couriers who operate by shipping multiple orders together and filling vehicles to the maximum, which is more cost-effective and environmentally-friendly than traditional delivery methods. Many of the vehicles used by the carriers we have partnered with are low, ultra-low or zero emission, ensuring an even smaller carbon footprint within the fulfilment process. Zendbox further supports eCommerce businesses in becoming more sustainable by offsetting carbon emissions through the planting of trees – 50 trees, to be exact, for every business that partners with us.

What is sustainable packaging?

Sustainable packaging refers to the sourcing, development, and use of packaging solutions that have a minimal environmental impact and footprint. Recyclable and/or biodegradable packaging such as corrugated cardboard, paper void fill, and gummed paper tape have traditionally been the most sustainable solutions. However, there are many other options available, including hex wrap or honeycomb wrap paper, which we at Zendbox use to fulfil orders as an alternative to single-use plastic bubble wrap.
